ChapterĀ 5
X-ray Diffractometers

As this chapter will explore, powder diffractometers have been around for a long time, but in recent years both commercial lab instruments and in particular synchrotron instruments have advanced dramatically. Historically, there were two approaches used for measurement of diffraction using an x-ray tube source.

5.1 Debye-Scherrer
5.2 Bragg-Brentano Diffractometer
5.3 Synchrotron-based instrumentation
5.3.1 Ultra-high resolution instruments
5.3.2 Linear PSD diffraction
5.3.3 Area detection instruments
5.4 X-ray detection and counting statistics
5.5 X-ray absorption in Debye-Scherrer Geometry
